Crerar Library carpeting project update

Crerar Library’s first floor emptied for the recarpeting project

We’re past the halfway point in the first floor carpeting project; all the furniture has been moved to the west side of the first floor, and the workers have started ripping and removing the old carpet. Over the next week, the new carpet will be installed on the east side, at which point the movers will shift the furniture to the other side of the room and allow the carpet work to continue on the west side. Reference librarians have set up a table in the center of the main atrium to serve patrons during regular reference hours.

In Access Services, we’ve moved out our shelves and reserve material ahead of the carpet work, but are still able to serve you from the south side of the circulation desk. As before, if you need any help finding material that used to be on the first floor, or locating a multifunction device for copying, printing, and scanning, just ask the attendant at the circulation desk.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact Barbara Kern, bkern@uchicago.edu or 773-702-8717.  Thank you for your continued patience, and we hope you enjoy our new look!
