Eckhart Library closes in July for renovations

Eckhart Library will temporarily close its doors on July 8 to facilitate a major renovation and reconfiguration of the Library space spurred by the growing need for faculty offices for the Mathematics and Statistics departments.

The renovated Eckhart Library will contain study space for students; course reserves for mathematics, computer science and statistics; and a core collection of mathematics monographs.  In addition six new offices will be created for Mathematics and Statistics faculty.

Monographs in the subject areas of computer science and statistics, as well as less frequently used mathematics monographs, will be transferred to the John Crerar Library‘s third floor stacks along with all journals in mathematics, computer science and statistics.  During the renovation period access to the collection will be limited. Consult us by phone at (773) 702-7409 or by email at eckhart-library@lib.uchicago.edu with any question about access to specific titles.  Until Eckhart Library reopens, the reserves collections for computer science, mathematics and statistics will be available to be checked out at the Crerar circulation desk.

More information about the move will be posted to the Library news site as it becomes available.
