Eckhart Library is temporarily closed  and undergoing a major renovation and reconfiguration of the Library space spurred by the growing need for faculty offices for the Mathematics and Statistics departments.

When the renovation is completed, later this academic year,  Eckhart Library will contain study space for students; course reserves for mathematics, computer science and statistics; and a core collection of mathematics books.  In addition to the Library renovations and reconfiguration, there will be six new offices created adjacent to the Library for Mathematics and Statistics faculty.

Monographs in the subject areas of computer science and statistics, as well as less frequently used mathematics monographs, have been moved to the Crerar Library and integrated into collection.  They are presently available in the 3rd floor stacks. All journals in mathematics, computer science and statistics are also now on Crerar’s third floor.

The core collection of books that will be in the Eckhart Library are currently being stored at Crerar during the construction. These titles are in closed stacks and are available for paging.  These books have the location “Eckhart: Ask at Crerar Circulation” in the catalog.  To page a book from this collection contact us by phone at (773) 702-8778 or by email at eckhart-library@lib.uchicago.edu with the title and call number. We will email patrons when the books are available for pick up.  They will be held at Crerar Library circulation during our open hours.  In most cases requests will be filled on the same day.  Requests made after 7pm will be filled the next day.
