New printing service at libraries and residence halls

A new printing service was rolled out to campus libraries and residence halls in August. Upgraded equipment for printing, copying, scanning, and faxing, as well as an improved software interface for web-based printing are included as a part of the new service. Microform scanners were upgraded as well, and an overhead scanner for bound materials is now available on Regenstein’s first floor.

Users can visit printing.uchicago.edu to print from their laptops or mobile devices via Web Printing Services or add value online to their cards. Those who had outstanding balances on their UChicago Cards or recently issued Campus Cards have had their balances transferred to the new system automatically. Users with older library cards or copy cards will need to ask for assistance in manually transferring any outstanding balance to a new card at the Proven Service Desk in Regenstein.

The price of printing, copying, scanning, and faxing using the multifunction devices remains the same as in 2013-14. Scanning from the microform scanners and the new overhead scanner is currently at no cost; later this quarter, the cost will be the same as scanning at the multifunction devices: 2 cents per page.
