Celebrate International Open Access Week

This week marks International Open Access Week, which aims to raise awareness of access to scholarly research. Open access work is freely available without any price or rights barriers, ensuring that anyone with internet access is able to take advantage of this scholarship.

This year, the University of Chicago Library has produced a guide aimed at dispelling some of the myths which surround open access.

Are you interested in checking out some open access work? All journals published by the Public Library of Science are open access, as are all the publication of the Open Library of the Humanities. An extensive list of open access journals is available via the Directory of Open Access Journals.

The Library is also in the midst of developing an institutional repository, which will support faculty and students who are eager to make their work openly available. More information about the repository, and about digital scholarship at the Library, can be found at lib.uchicago.edu/ds.
